IDEXX in-house analysers
Built-in image capture systems give you and your veterinary practice an extra pair of eyes
When you think of images and cameras in veterinary medicine, your immediate association may be with diagnostic imaging and surgical procedures. But advanced image capture systems can be used for so much more. With today’s cutting-edge veterinary technology, artificial intelligence (AI) uses the images taken by the capturing system to carry out a myriad of automated functions—giving you more time to prioritise your patients and clients. It’s like having a few extra pairs of hands to help ensure everything runs smoothly at your practice. Sample loading errors are caught before they slow down your workflow, and quality control checks are carried out on a regular basis.
The Catalyst One Chemistry Analyser, ProCyte One Haematology Analyser, and SediVue Dx Urine Sediment Analyser are all equipped with their own version of an advanced image capture system to help boost efficiency and improve quality control at your practice. Our innovative analysers not only help you see more, but also offer a range of other powerful features, too. Our image capture systems will help your practice run more smoothly, regardless of the number of clients that come through your door.
Below, we explore three major benefits of IDEXX in-house analysers featuring in-built image capture systems.
Maximising efficiency so there are no delays to your delivery of care
During patient sample analysis, there are a few processes that tend to be very time-inefficient. One is the loading process. With some analysers on the market, loading samples incorrectly can cause major issues. Imagine you’ve loaded your samples into the analyser, pressed GO, and then stepped away from the machine to perform another task. You return to the analyser, only to find that it never started running in the first place.
The Catalyst One Analyser’s image capture system prevents this from happening. By visually scanning the sample drawer, it spots loading errors within seconds and alerts the user immediately. This instant notification system alerting you that something has gone wrong or is missing allows you to correct errors on the spot and save precious time. Forgot to load the sample? Not to worry: the analyser will notify you and let you know exactly why the process hasn’t run.
The ProCyte One Analyser’s image capture system is similarly programmed, acting as the eyes in the back of your head and maximising your efficiency. It flags loading errors, identifies which tube is being used and adjusts accordingly in order to draw the sample. The operation won’t run until the mistake is fixed, which reduces sample waste.
For the SediVue Dx Analyser, the image capture system features a built-in inverted microscope, thereby cutting down the time it takes to do standard real-time care tasks. With this analyser, the system works in tandem with artificial intelligence to transform dry-slide preparation. What would usually take 20 minutes becomes a three-minute task.
Automating quality control—meaning there’s one less thing on your mind
In the veterinary profession, your days are often very busy, and maximising efficiency is of the essence. The ProCyte One Analyser helps you avoid time traps, as its image capture system simplifies and shortens the entire quality control process. It scans the expiration and lot number, eliminating the need to scan bar codes manually. And because it runs automatically in the background, you don’t need to interact with the process at all.
Our technology helps you save time and manage your patients in the confidence that your in-house analyser is running efficiently and generating accurate results.
Powering other product features
The image capture systems in the SediVue Dx and Catalyst One Analysers are integral to many of the in-house analysers’ smart features and their ability to increase efficiency for you and your team.
The SediVue Dx Analyser’s image capture system with built-in inverted microscope lenses takes digital images of urine sediment for the analyser’s algorithms, which assess the sample and identify any sediment that may be present. It also automates the light and contrast settings and offers a broad field of view, providing you with high-resolution images you can share with peers or clients. The system can capture up to 70 high-resolution images per run—working much faster than it would take you to process the same number manually. The SediVue Dx Analyser dramatically reduces the number of instances in which you need to manually examine slides under a microscope.
In the Catalyst One Analyser, the image capture system works with artificial intelligence to determine the best processing method. Think of a car with a dual camera: using the camera display, you can chart the best way to reverse into or out of a parking space. The Catalyst One Analyser works in a similar way. Its built-in image capture system takes a picture of the sample and shares it with the analyser’s algorithm to determine the quality of the sample. Meanwhile, the second camera in the system examines the Catalyst One’s slide bar codes. These bar codes contain processing information that the AI decodes and then carries out.
All of this happens automatically and within the analyser—all you have to do is load the samples and slides.
With these built-in image capture systems, it doesn’t matter how busy your practice gets; the IDEXX analysers will reduce your workload and allow you to focus on your patients and clients.
